Lake Hill Capital Management
Lake Hill Capital Management is a privately owned asset management firm working in quantitative and relative-value strategies across derivatives and the underlying securities. Founded in 2005, it manages money for institutional clients and high-net-worth families through its own products and custom portfolios.
The team has run money through a lot of different market cycles, with backgrounds at firms like Salomon Brothers, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Bank of America, and Bloomberg.
Lake Hill recruits specifically for derivatives talent and runs a global team that pairs trading judgment with the technology to act on it.
The Challenge
In 2005, Lake Hill needed a secure corporate network built from scratch and reliable remote access to go with it. They brought in SRS to handle it. This case study walks through what that build looked like over the years that followed.
Initial Network Setup
In 2005, SRS stood up the corporate network: servers, workstations, routers, and firewalls, sized to support a growing firm and built to stay secure.
Dedicated Link to Goldman Sachs
SRS worked with Lake Hill and Goldman Sachs's technical teams to set up remote access and a dedicated, secure connection into Goldman's systems, so trades and data moved between the two without friction.
Power Redundancy and Disaster Recovery
To keep the firm running through power problems, SRS added power redundancy and a full backup and disaster-recovery setup so critical data could be brought back fast.
Relocation and System Upgrades
SRS planned and ran the moves of Lake Hill's systems and data lines with minimal downtime, and kept operating systems patched and current along the way.
Mission-Critical Database Management
SRS managed Lake Hill's mission-critical databases in real time: keeping data intact, running backups, and watching performance so nothing slipped.
Data Center Migrations
As the firm grew, SRS moved its systems to the BT Radianz data center, then later to Equinix, in both cases without downtime and with better scalability and connectivity.
Connectivity with Deutsche Bank and Crossover Connections
Lake Hill also needed a secure link to Deutsche Bank. SRS worked with both sides to set it up and maintain it, and handled the crossover connections to other financial institutions.
Financial Software Management
SRS supported the financial software Lake Hill ran day to day, handling compatibility and updates so the tools stayed current and the environment stayed secure.
Transition to Leucadia Asset Management
In 2016, Lake Hill became a division of Leucadia Asset Management LLC. SRS kept supporting the critical systems through the transition so daily operations weren't disrupted.
Bottom Line
From the first network build to the data-center moves, SRS gave Lake Hill a secure, reliable platform to trade on, with the remote access and bank connections the business depended on. That foundation carried the firm through its growth and into Leucadia Asset Management.
