Reducing Latency for Divox International Inc.

Divox International Inc. is a Tier 2 operator in the international wholesale carrier business, running since 2008. Headquartered in New York with offices in Dubai and India, Divox carries around 350 million minutes globally and backs it with a 24/7 technical support team known for clean voice quality.

Challenges

By 2012, Divox's original data center couldn't scale with the business and had limited maintenance windows. The bigger problem was latency: for a VoIP carrier, latency is voice quality. Divox brought in SRS to fix the infrastructure and, above all, bring latency down.

Solutions Implemented

Data center migration and setup

SRS helped Divox find better data center space in New York and New Jersey and moved the servers into the Telx facilities at both sites, handling the logistics and insurance so the move went cleanly.

Network infrastructure and connectivity

SRS upgraded server memory and drives, sorted out cable management, ran cross-connect testing, and reconfigured 50 servers to cut latency, then set up a secure link between the NY and NJ data centers.

Reworking the VoIP setup

SRS rebuilt the VoIP environment for efficiency: replanning and rearranging equipment including the Sonus devices, tidying power and cabling, and using fiber to improve performance, across several coordinated trips to the data centers.

Business Benefits

Lower latency, better calls

The network rework, better ISPs, and BGP tuning cut latency noticeably, which meant cleaner voice and more reliable calls. The server and memory upgrades sharpened response times too.

Room to scale

The new data centers let Divox grow and take on more customers while keeping latency down, and the network changes improved overall reliability and uptime.

Easier to run

Organizing the data centers made maintenance and troubleshooting quicker and kept the whole system performing better.

Security and investor confidence

Secure connections, redundancy, and segmentation strengthened the network and, with it, investor confidence in the business.

Bottom Line

By focusing on latency, cleaner connectivity, and a reworked VoIP setup, SRS helped Divox scale, improve call quality, and run a more reliable system, the things that matter most in the wholesale carrier business.
