Running IT in New York City means dealing with dense, multi-site environments, high vendor turnover, and compliance obligations that vary by industry. Stratify IT has worked with businesses across the five boroughs since 2002, helping organizations stabilize their infrastructure, close security gaps, and make technology decisions that hold up under operational pressure.

Whether you need a fractional CIO to own your IT roadmap, a managed services team to handle day-to-day operations, or project-based consulting for a specific initiative, we provide that capability without the overhead of building it in-house.

IT consulting services in NYC - strategic technology planning and business growth solutions

Core IT Consulting Services

Stratify IT structures engagements around your specific operating environment, drawing on experience across financial services, healthcare, legal, construction, and professional services throughout the city and the broader metro area. Each engagement starts with a structured IT assessment that establishes a documented baseline before any recommendations are made.

🔍

IT Assessment & Strategic Planning

We assess your current infrastructure, security controls, vendor stack, and operational workflows, then deliver a prioritized roadmap with specific recommendations. Engagements are scoped individually; contact us for an estimate based on your organization's size and complexity.

👨‍💼

Virtual CIO Leadership

Our Virtual CIO service gives mid-market and growing businesses access to executive-level IT leadership without a full-time hire. A dedicated vCIO works alongside your leadership team to align technology investments with business objectives, manage vendor relationships, and own the long-term IT roadmap.

🚀

IT Project Management

System migrations, infrastructure refreshes, and application rollouts frequently exceed scope when internal teams carry the load alongside day-to-day operations. Our project managers own planning, vendor coordination, and delivery milestones, keeping initiatives on schedule and within budget.

☁️

Cloud Solutions & Migration

We architect and execute cloud migrations for organizations moving workloads to Azure, Microsoft 365, or hybrid environments. Our approach covers security configuration, licensing optimization, and data governance — not just infrastructure lift-and-shift — so you don't inherit new cost and complexity in place of the old.

💼

Custom Application Services

When off-the-shelf software doesn't fit your workflows, we design and integrate custom applications that close the gaps. Our team handles requirements gathering, development, and post-deployment support, ensuring new applications connect cleanly with your existing systems.

📊

Microsoft Dynamics 365

Our certified consultants implement and optimize Microsoft Dynamics 365 across CRM, ERP, and business operations modules. We handle configuration, data migration, user training, and ongoing support so your team can operate the platform effectively from day one.

Managed IT Services & Ongoing Support

For organizations that need consistent, day-to-day technology operations support, Stratify IT provides fully managed IT services covering infrastructure monitoring, helpdesk, security, and continuity planning. Our team escalates issues before they affect users, keeps systems patched and current, and provides onsite response within three hours when remote resolution isn't sufficient.

We also support businesses that prefer a hybrid model, supplementing an internal IT team with specialized expertise in cybersecurity, cloud architecture, or compliance.

🛠️

Managed IT Infrastructure

We handle monitoring, patch management, and performance optimization across servers, endpoints, and network infrastructure, targeting 99.99% uptime through structured maintenance cycles that address problems before they affect users.

🔒

Cybersecurity Services

We implement layered security controls — endpoint detection and response, multi-factor authentication, email security, vulnerability management, and security awareness training — calibrated to your risk profile and industry requirements. Our team monitors your environment around the clock for threats that automated tools may not catch without analyst review.

🔄

Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery

We design and test recovery plans that specify recovery time objectives, backup validation schedules, and failover procedures. A continuity plan that hasn't been tested under realistic conditions offers limited protection; our team conducts structured tabletop exercises and technical recovery drills to verify your organization can meet its RTOs when it matters.

🎯

Governance, Risk & Compliance

For businesses operating under regulatory frameworks — HIPAA, SOC 2, PCI DSS, or NIST-aligned security requirements — our GRC practice supports policy development, control implementation, and audit readiness. We document your control environment and help you close gaps before they become findings.

Industry Experience Across Key Sectors

New York City's business environment is unusually concentrated — financial services firms, law practices, healthcare networks, media companies, and professional services organizations often operate within blocks of each other, each under distinct regulatory requirements. Our consultants have direct experience in these sectors and structure recommendations around the compliance obligations and operational realities specific to each.

🏗️

Construction & Real Estate

Project-based businesses need technology that supports field operations, subcontractor coordination, and document management across distributed worksites. We integrate data analytics tools for timeline and resource visibility, automate procurement workflows, and enforce security controls that protect sensitive financial and project data.

🏥

Healthcare

We support healthcare organizations with EHR integration, telemedicine infrastructure, and HIPAA-compliant security architectures. Clinical and administrative systems are configured to meet operational efficiency requirements alongside strict data governance obligations — so compliance doesn't come at the cost of usability.

💰

Financial Services

Financial institutions in New York operate under layered compliance obligations, including NYDFS cybersecurity regulations alongside federal frameworks. We implement compliance-aligned infrastructure, risk management tooling, and security controls designed for the specific requirements governing financial services operations in the state.

⚖️

Legal Practices

Our legal industry IT services cover secure case management systems, e-discovery infrastructure, and cybersecurity configurations built around attorney-client privilege requirements and New York State bar association professional responsibility standards.

What to Expect Working with Stratify IT

Stratify IT has been operating since 2002 and has served over 500 organizations across the country. That longevity reflects structured processes, clear escalation paths, and consultants who have worked through the infrastructure, security, and operational challenges that affect businesses at different growth stages.

On pricing: IT consulting and managed services engagements vary significantly based on organization size, complexity, and scope. We don't publish flat-rate pricing because the work isn't flat-rate — contact us for a scoped estimate based on your specific requirements.

🎯

Assessment-First Approach

Every project starts with a structured review of your current systems and operations. We document what exists, identify gaps against your operational requirements or applicable compliance frameworks, and prioritize recommendations by business impact — not by what's easiest to implement.

👥

Dedicated Team Continuity

You work with the same consultants throughout your engagement — not a rotating pool of technicians. Your assigned team develops a working understanding of your environment over time, which translates into faster issue resolution and more targeted guidance.

Responsive Onsite & Remote Support

Our helpdesk resolves the majority of problems remotely, with onsite response available within three hours when hands-on work is required. We target 24/7 coverage for managed clients, with clearly defined escalation paths and response SLAs documented in your service agreement.

📈

Measurable Outcomes

We establish baseline metrics at the start of each project — system availability, ticket resolution times, security posture scores, or compliance control coverage — and report against those metrics regularly. Work is tracked against measurable reductions in IT costs and operational risk.

In addition to New York City, we provide IT consulting and managed services across Long Island — learn more about our Long Island IT services.

Choosing the right IT consultant for your business in New York City can feel overwhelming, but asking the right questions can streamline the process. Here are key areas to focus on:

Identify Your Needs

  • What specific IT challenges does my company face? Start by analyzing your business operations to identify pain points. This helps ensure you only pay for necessary services.

Expertise and Experience

  • Do you have experience in my industry? Ensure that the IT consultant has specific knowledge relevant to your field, whether it’s healthcare, finance, or another industry, as each has unique compliance requirements.

  • Can you provide examples of similar projects you have completed? Ask for case studies or references demonstrating their experience and success in similar environments.

Staff Qualifications

  • Who will be working on our account, and what are their qualifications? Verify that the team is skilled and has the necessary certifications to support your industry's requirements.

Customization and Flexibility

  • How tailored are your solutions to individual business needs? Opt for IT consultants who offer customized solutions rather than one-size-fits-all packages.

  • How do you handle scalability as my business grows? Ensure they have a plan for scaling services without disruption.

Cost and Contracts

  • What is the pricing structure, and are there any hidden fees? Ensure transparency in pricing and understand what is included in service packages.

  • What is the minimum contract term, and are there penalties for early termination? Assess the flexibility of contract terms to ensure they align with your business needs.

Support and Security

  • What support and maintenance do you offer post-implementation? Confirm the availability of ongoing support, including response times and availability.

  • How do you ensure data security and compliance with relevant regulations? Inquire about their security measures and understanding of compliance standards crucial to your industry.

Addressing these questions can help you narrow your options and confidently choose an IT consulting firm that aligns with your business objectives and security needs.

Navigating the tech landscape of New York City can be challenging for businesses. Several factors must be considered when deciding whether to employ both an in-house IT team and external IT consultants.

Business Size and Complexity

  1. Small to Medium Businesses: These enterprises often benefit from pairing an IT consultant with an in-house team. The in-house team manages daily operations, ensuring smooth functionality, while consultants bring in specialized knowledge and strategic oversight.

  2. Medium-sized Enterprises: It's common to find roles like Chief Information Officer (CIO) or Chief Technology Officer (CTO) within these companies. They are crucial because they understand the internal workings and can effectively communicate the company's tech needs, helping consultants tailor their advice and solutions.

Benefits of Dual Approach

  • Strategic Advantage: You get the best of both worlds with an internal team and consultants. The team handles immediate issues, while consultants focus on overall strategy and staying ahead of tech trends.

  • Enhanced Collaboration: CIOs and CTOs liaise between the in-house team and consultants, ensuring that technological implementations align with business goals.

  • Adaptability: Having both resources allows a company to adapt quickly to market changes, offering scalability as the business grows.

Staying Ahead

With the rapid evolution of technology in NYC, it's crucial for businesses to evaluate their IT needs consistently. This dual approach equips companies to optimize operations and remain competitive.

Ultimately, the decision depends heavily on the specific requirements and goals of the business. Regular assessment of your IT strategy will ensure the alignment of your technological infrastructure with the business's long-term objectives.

If you've decided that using an IT consultant isn't the best fit for your business, transitioning away is straightforward. Here's how you can transition back to managing your IT internally:

  1. Write a Formal Termination Request: Most IT service agreements require written termination notice. Check your contract’s specifics for any required notice period.

  2. Understand Your Contract Terms: While many agreements are on a month-to-month basis, some may have clauses for longer commitments. Be sure to review these to avoid any unexpected charges or obligations.

  3. Plan the Transition: You'll revert to relying on your internal IT team on the agreed termination date. This involves coordinating with them to ensure all systems remain operational during the changeover.

  4. Data Management: Ensure that any sensitive information the IT consultant stores is securely deleted from their systems. If there are any hard copies or physical records, arrange to have these returned.

  5. Conduct a Wind-Down Meeting: Schedule a final meeting with the IT consultant to discuss the transition plan. This meeting is crucial for addressing lingering questions and finalizing the details to smooth the process.

Following these steps can make reverting from an IT consultant to your own resources an organized and stress-free process.

When selecting an IT partner, business leaders often ponder whether the size of the firm truly impacts the quality of service. While it's a common perception that larger IT companies might lack the personal touch, this is not always the case.

Benefits of Larger IT Firms

  1. Resources and Capabilities: Larger firms typically have access to a broader range of resources and cutting-edge technology. They can often handle complex, large-scale projects with ease due to their extensive capabilities.

  2. Stability and Reliability: With more established infrastructures and redundancies in place, bigger companies can offer reliability and stability, ensuring minimal disruption to your business operations.

  3. Wide Range of Expertise: They usually employ specialists across various fields, providing a one-stop-shop for diverse IT needs.

Advantages of Smaller IT Partners

  1. Personalized Service: Smaller firms often excel in providing personalized and attentive support. They tend to build stronger relationships with their clients, fostering effective communication and a deeper understanding of business needs.

  2. Agility and Flexibility: With fewer bureaucratic layers, smaller companies can often adapt more quickly to changes, offering tailored solutions with speed and efficiency.

  3. Cost-Effectiveness: Sometimes, smaller firms offer competitive pricing structures without compromising quality, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious companies.

Key Considerations

Ultimately, the decision should pivot more on the firm's reputation, service offerings, and cost-efficiency, rather than just size. Checking client testimonials, case studies, and industry ratings can provide valuable insights into a firm’s reliability and service quality.

Therefore, while size can influence certain aspects of service delivery, it shouldn't be the sole factor in your decision-making process. Instead, evaluate how well the IT firm aligns with your specific business goals and needs.

When considering IT consulting in New York, many executives might question whether it equates to off-shoring. It's essential to clarify that while both involve external expertise, they are not identical. Here’s how they differ:

Location and Accessibility: IT consulting in New York typically involves local or regional experts who are more accessible for in-person meetings and quicker response times. In contrast, off-shoring involves hiring professionals from other countries, which can sometimes lead to time zone challenges and communication barriers.

Control and Customization: Working with local consultants often offers greater control and the ability to tailor solutions to specific business needs. Off-shoring can be more rigid due to the standardized nature of services provided to clients globally.

Communication Dynamics: Effective communication is crucial for any IT project. Local teams might provide more seamless integration into your organizational culture due to similar working hours and cultural understanding, whereas off-shoring requires clear communication frameworks to overcome potential barriers.

It's important to note that many organizations blend these strategies to leverage global expertise while maintaining local oversight. According to industry expert Cliff Justice, a substantial number of businesses implement shared services or some form of outsourcing, highlighting the prevalence and benefits of both approaches.

Ultimately, whether to consult locally or off-shore depends on your specific needs, including the desired level of control, communication preferences, and budget considerations. A well-defined contract with clear Service Level Agreements (SLAs) can ensure high standards across the board, regardless of the team's location.

In the rapidly evolving world of IT consulting, adopting a customer-centric approach is vital for success. This strategy involves more than providing services; it's about truly understanding and aligning with the client's business objectives.

Understanding Your Clients

A customer-centric approach starts with delving into the client's world. Here, consultants take the time to grasp the intricacies of the business, recognizing specific challenges and potential opportunities. This involves active listening and asking insightful questions to tailor IT solutions that perfectly align with the client's goals.

Driving Business Growth

When IT strategies are crafted with the client's unique needs, they are more likely to propel business growth. These personalized solutions address current pain points and pave the way for future advancement, ensuring the technology supports and enhances strategic objectives.

Building Long-Term Partnerships

Going beyond transactions, this approach fosters robust, long-term partnerships. IT consultants dedicated to their customers' success repeatedly work tirelessly to exceed expectations. Excellent customer service becomes a cornerstone as the relationship evolves into a collaborative partnership rather than a mere service arrangement.

Enhancing Customer Satisfaction

A customer-centric mindset boosts satisfaction by delivering high-value outcomes that resonate with the client's business aspirations. Clients feel valued and understood, leading to repeat business and a more substantial reputation.

In essence, the significance of a customer-focused approach in IT consulting lies in its potential to transform relationships into partnerships and IT solutions into catalysts for growth and innovation.

Organizations need robust strategies to protect their assets in the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape. Security advisory and virtual Chief Information Security Officer (vCISO) services are pivotal.

Strategic Guidance and Compliance

A security advisory team provides strategic insights, helping executives align security measures with overall business goals. They ensure governance structures are in place and meet industry compliance standards, which boosts the organization's ROI by effectively managing risks and resources.

Risk Management

Identifying and prioritizing potential risks is crucial. These services comprehensively evaluate an organization's security environment, ensuring that business needs and priorities align with its risk management strategies.

Team Collaboration

Acting as trusted advisors, security consultants integrate seamlessly with internal teams. This collaboration means an organization doesn't need to hire a full-time, expensive C-level executive to have high-quality, strategic security oversight.

Holistic Risk Evaluation

Security advisors provide a broad view of the company's technology and business operations, identifying potential vulnerabilities. This holistic approach helps adopt best security practices tailored to the business's unique aspects.

Centralized Communication

A vCISO serves as a single point of contact for all cybersecurity-related inquiries and issues. If they lack specific answers, they leverage an internal expert team, drawing on a vast network of knowledge and experience from varied industries.

Unbiased Advice

One significant advantage of such services is their ability to offer independent, unbiased advice, ensuring no conflicts of interest interfere with the recommended security measures. This impartiality can be crucial in making informed decisions that effectively protect the organization.

By combining these elements, security advisory, and vCISO services play a critical role in fortifying an organization's cybersecurity framework within the larger scope of IT consulting.

Transforming cybersecurity from a financial drain into a strategic asset involves aligning security measures with core business objectives. By integrating cybersecurity initiatives with broader business goals, organizations can protect their assets and enhance their overall performance.

Align Cybersecurity with Business Objectives:

Start by embedding cybersecurity strategies into your company's mission and objectives. This approach ensures that each security solution contributes directly to business goals, thus enhancing operational efficiency.

Implement Proactive Security Measures:

By adopting advanced predictive technologies from industry leaders like IBM Security and Symantec, businesses can anticipate threats before they occur. This proactive stance minimizes disruptions and maintains the smooth flow of operations.

Enhance User Experience:

Invest in user-friendly security technologies such as seamless multi-factor authentication. Enhancing user experience mitigates risks and facilitates business processes, fostering trust and ease of use among employees and customers alike.

Optimize Efficiency through Automation:

Leveraging automation in security processes reduces manual workload and allows for quicker response times. Solutions from companies like Cisco and Fortinet can help streamline operations, turning cybersecurity into a tool for increased productivity.

Drive Innovation and Confidence:

Secure technologies provide a foundation for innovation. With robust security, businesses can confidently explore new markets and offerings and ensure they can protect and manage customer data effectively.

By strategically weaving cybersecurity into the business framework, organizations can protect their assets and empower themselves to reach new heights. Rather than a mere expense, cybersecurity becomes a pivotal player in your growth strategy.

I was employed as a Network Manager at DesignWorks Jewelry Group (later became a part of Tache Jewelry), a well-established diamond company that required hardware, software, and network upgrades starting from 2004. To assist in this project, we interviewed a few prospective consultants. SRS stood out from the rest with their collaborative and innovative spirit and forward-thinking ideologies. SRS became our partner in this project as we worked together to implement new firewalls, switches, and network cabling. We set up imaging and deployed new workstations loaded with updated OS and applications to all employees. We installed a new Exchange email system, external DNS, and VPN access into the company. SRS's skilled technological expertise allowed for quick project completion. Even after the project was completed, SRS provided ongoing support to ensure our success. SRS became our go-to for all network-related tasks and projects going forward. One of those additional projects was to build a remote office network from the ground up in Manhattan's Diamond District. SRS assisted in configuring the network and a P2P internet connection between our offices. The company was grateful and very satisfied with the services that SRS provided. I recommend SRS for all phases of network system implementation, support, security, and consultation.

For nearly a decade, SRS managed our systems at Chado Raph Rucci. Their expertise modernized our systems, supported industry applications, enhanced cybersecurity, and ensured seamless executive connectivity. SRS connected our factory to our SoHo headquarters, established disaster recovery and business continuity plans, and promptly addressed issues, even on weekends and holidays. With SRS, our systems stayed secure, providing peace of mind. Their transparent fixed-rate pricing ensured predictability. We highly recommend SRS for their exceptional past service and commitment to clients.

We founded Royalty Solutions Corp in 2009 and had already been working with Strategic Response Systems for many years with our first company. They got us up and running with the latest technologies and systems and helped us migrate to the data center environment, even working with the software vendors to help us make a seamless transition. Even more remarkable is that we have had no security breaches across our three companies in 20 years of service. Support requests were handled on time and gave us the confidence that we would be able to get in touch with them anytime, either via email, text message, or phone. With Strategic Response Systems serving as both our MSP and Cloud Service provider, it ensured that we would get quick response times and allowed us to focus on our core business and doing what we do best.

Memory Lane Music Group has worked with Strategic Response Systems for over 20 years, when they first responded to an IT emergency call. We ended up hiring them as our Managed Service Provider and eventually as our Cloud Services Provider, and they helped us grow through the launch of two additional companies. Strategic Response Systems provided us with all the advantages of an in-house IT team without the payroll expense. They have always provided us with support within minutes of an urgent phone call, regardless of the time of day or night. We don’t get a support ticket; we get a call-back. It feels like they are part of the company because of how invested they are in our operations running smoothly. They migrated all our in-house data to the cloud without any downtime. Also, when we moved offices twice in the past 20 years, it was done without an interruption of services or my team’s productivity.

Seth Perlman

In 2006 Perlman & Perlman reached out to Strategic Response Systems to help them meet the needs of this new era with updates to its IT infrastructure and implementing a strategic cloud solution. The over-arching goal of the project was to remove all IT-related worries from business, so that the business could focus on its core priorities to serve customers effectively and grow. Working with Strategic Response Systems helped transform our company and branch offices into a true 21st century enterprise that now embraces technology for the security, reliability, productivity gains and ease of use that SRS’s Infrastructure-as-a Service offers, Perlman continued. It took patience on both sides to be sure, but the gains we have realized as a company and the training our staff has received have proven invaluable.
